Crooked Arrow

After being seperated from their Dad for 5 days, the kids were really excited to pick him up from the airport ( I was really excited too!-) so of course his plane was delayed, but once we were reunited again we had 2 destinations for the night. For us a trip "home" has several "must do" and the top of the list a visit through In N Out- and then up to Rose Hills to see Johnny parents and my Dad (they are buried right next to each other). Poor Cash struggled to keep his balance at Rose Hills, but it was just a lot of fun to be together.

*Sydney informed us we all needed to get shirts with the crooked arrow on it- Johnny and I were confused what the "crooked arrow" was until we saw one-

Downtown Disney

I don't know if I have said this before on my Blog, but I love Disneyland- I just the feeling in the air, so while we did not venture to the park this trip home- we did head over for some fun at Downtown Disney. Sydney was allowed to get one thing for the candy store in which she chose a marshmallow lollipop (mainly because the Disney princesses were on the wrapper) We then just listened to the street bands and got a Jomba Juice and checked out the stores. Such a fun night!

Gardner's Village:Pioneer Day

If you live in Utah- Pioneer Day can mean several things ranging from another silly Mormon thing-to another 3 day weekend- or for many a chance to have some fun while reflecting on our pioneer heritage. With my Mom in town, I wanted to do something fun- but neither one of us were too keen on the whole parade thing, so we watched it on TV for a while then we headed out. When my Mom comes to town there are few stops on or lists everytime- one of them is to head to Gardner's Village (a bunch of fun shops in old pioneer houses) which fit in with the whole pioneer thing and to top it off- they were doing a fun scavenger hunyt. My Mom loves puzzles and so with her help we figured out all of our clues and got a cookie as a reward. Then we headed up to Shriners to do a fun activity with the patients. Then of course a BBQ that night and then to Liberty Park for a great fireworks display.
I am truly grateful for my pioneer heritage and the courage it took for them to leave all that they knew behind and on faith come and settle in Uath/Wyoming.

Discovery Museum

With my Mom in town we ventured out to the Children's Discovery Museum at the Gateway. We haven't been there since last summer and it was fun to see even Cash enjoy himself-he loved driving the car.

Snowbird

I love my job-but it is nice every once in a while to benefit from extra perks. One such perk, Summer Saturdays at Snowbird. Wasatch Adaptive Sports invites me to bring up some patients and their families to enjoy the summer activities that the ski resort provides like a boundless playground, bounce house, alpine slide and just being up in a beautiful setting.

Navajo Tacos

My kids both love beans- black, refried, kidney, chili it does not matter. So I let Cash to his devices to eat the chili beans off of his Navajo taco (ak a scone with chili and cheese) and this picture was the end result.

Play Playdo Play

I am probably rare, but I love playdo and I love to let Sydney play with it. As long as she sticks to the rules (like it has to stay in the kitchen) she can play for hours with it. Today while Cash took his nap and after our tea party, we made Kool-aid playdo so fun and it smeels good too! We made cherry since she wanted it pink. Just in case anyone wants the recipe it is:
2 small pkgs. of unsweetened Kool-aid (I use the generic)
3 1/2 c. of flour (may need more if dough is sticky)
1/2 c. salt

Mix in a bowl together-while 2 cups of water comes to a boil. Add 3 tbsp of oil to the water then pour over the dry ingredients. Let it cool in the frig and let the fun begin

I Love Your Sad Side

I love the children's book, I love you through and through- it is a favorite at our house- well, Cash makes the best sad faces ever! After months of trying we finally captured it!

5 Guys

On Saturday after cleaning out the garage a little, we decided to reward ourselves and try a new place for lunch-5 Guys Burgers and Fries a hamburger chain from the east that recently came to Utah. Fun atmosphere, great music and really good fries. I couldn't say anything about the burgers, but Johnny liked his (Syd got a hot dog)

A Trip to the Vet

Poor Rosco does not get much attention on this blog- but on Friday he needed to head to one of his favorite places(seriously he LOVES it), the Vet to get his yearly shots. With the kids in tow since Rosco and his 70 lbs lunges to get in the vet we went in. I had Rosco on the leash, Cash on my hip and Syd walking along side. Once in the exam room the kids started playing (I thoroughly washed their hands after) Rosco with a smile took his 3 shots like a champ, but was a little confused as to why playing under the table was so much fun-truthfully I did not get the fun in it either.

The Love Bug

I have been sharing with Sydney my love for Disney movies- specifically the classics-like Summer Magic, Swiss Family Robinson, The One and Only Genuine Original Family Band to name a few. Syd loves them-and one movie in particular has made a lasting impression.

Background: as a child we watched the Herbie movies and I still recall one Sunday driving to church when my little brother started freaking out in the family station wagon that he saw a Herbie- we were stopped at a four way stop with Herbie to our right and Jeff was jumping in the car (pre-booster seat laws) and screaming and pointing at this car and the poor driver who had no idea what was going on.

Fastforward to present day. . .Sydney now does the same thing-after watching the Love Bug any "Herbie" we see she has to yell out (from the security of her booster seat) new and old style bugs it does not matter, but in true Sydney style she has added a twist. . .Herbie's cousin (the PT cruiser) we were driving and she said "Mom that is Herbie's cousin!" I looked and it was a PT cruiser!

Brain Freeze

Cash has a sweet tooth, so I shared some of my ice cream with him. Everytime he took a bite he would scrunch up his face-it was so cute! I tried to capture it. . .

Breakfast in Bed

Syd recently moved up in the world of bedroom furniture with the upgrade from her toddler toddler bed to a "big girl" twin bed. A week ago she overheard Johnny and me making a bet with the high stakes of breakfast in bed for the winner. So the other morning Sydney woke up and declared she was wanting breakfast in bed. So pancakes in bed (no syrup) and a smile on her face.
