Ski Day

After getting her first pair of skiis in December, Sydney had her first day "skiing" up at Brighton on Saturday. The whole family headed up and with Cash in the Bjorn we watched as Johnny very patiently took Sydney up the "magic carpet" to learn how to do the "pizza" skiis toes together and "french fries" skiis side by side. After a few tries we hung out in the lodge while Johnny took in a few runs, then followed it up by Sydney's first trip on the chair lift. It was successful and fun day in everyones eyes-especially Johnny's as they were just filled with joy and for Sydney with her eyes closed before we even pulled out of the parking lot.

Rocking Out

As we were leaving the zoo, Sydney wanted to "rock out" on the wooden rocking chairs so we stopped and played on them for a few minutes-even Donna,(named after our sweet neighbor)the bear, enjoyed herself.

Some Pink Fluffy Stuff Please

While at the zoo Syd had to make some tough choices-she could either ride the carousel, get some cotton candy, or get a treat at Costco (our destintion after the zoo)-she chose "Some pink fluffy stuff please" after tearing off a huge chunk and eating several big bites, she asked if it would be ok to throw the rest away in the trash (I think we will be riding the carousel next time).

Zoo

With the kids being sick most of January compounded with the yucky Utah inversion-we did not venture out much. On Friday, we took advantage of the balmy 45 degree weather with its blue skies and fake out sun (my phrase of what occurs when the sun is out, but not projecting any warmth)and headed to the zoo. It took us a while to get ready (read "Waiting" post) and in the end I let Sydney wear the shoes she wanted. We had a great time all of the animal-minus the bears- were out.

Waiting on a Woman

Well. . .it should probably be called waiting on my sister- Cash was dressed and ready to go to the zoo, but Sydney and I were having some power struggles over what she was allowed to wear. So Cash made use of his time by playing in Our crib (was made for us by Johnny's friend, Mike Stoddard, back in the day-but truth be told Syndey spent most of her baby days in our pack and play-so Cash really is the first baby really using it.) He actually seems to enjoy his space-except when he jumps and hits his mouth (and I know I should take down the mobile, but I think he's cute-kind of like King Kong with the airplanes)

Growing UP!!

So it seems apparent that neither of my children have (at least not yet anyway) my overwhelming fear of heights

Valentine's Day

Our Valentine's Day officially started on Friday night when Johnny took me out to a dinner at the Little America hotel for work. It was fun. Then Saturday morning I was woken up with a knock at the door and was suprised to find a man delivering a gerber daisy plant to me at 8:30am (Johnny said it was someone from the Relief Society at the door)he seemed equally suprised to have me answer the door in my red silk pj's! With a breakfast of pink heart pancakes we were off to a great day. We headed down to Orem for a cousin's cowgirl birthday party. Cash's hair reached an all-time high thanks to a balloon. Then after being sick all winter Sydney was able to play in the fresh snow with her cousin, Charley, and make an offical snowman. Overall a great day- spent with just some of the many people I love.

May the Best Team Win. . .Not

So, while I love my job working for a non-profit does not allow for many of the perks that the business world gets like bonuses and stuff, but occasionally other perks present themeselves which was the case this week in the form of three tikets to the Jazz vs Lakers game. Johnny and I took Sydney and thankfully my friend, Heidi stepped in last minute to watch Cash to the game. it was a ton of fun and in the end our team lost.

Gifts of Love

My Mom has many talents and skills and one in which I wish I had had the patience to learn was the ablity to sew- at Christmas time she took down Sydney's measurements and this week a cute butterlfy jumper showed up in the mail. When Sydney opened it she exclaimed, "Oh my gosh!" and had to put it on right then.

Note:in the background is my Valentine's present- a secretary (a piece of furniture not a person) to further my quest to get organized.

Love is in the Air

While Halloween is by far my favorite holiday-I am beginning to love Valentine's Day-the pink and red hearts-its really kind of cute. So anyway I saw a banner advertsing a Daddy Daughter Dance last weekend (on the 6th) and hoped Sydney would be well enough to go with Johnny and double with his friend, Jason and his daughter, Afton. Well, on Friday Syd perked up enough to go to the "ball" with Johnny. I had Johnny bring Syd her favorite flower, a pink rose (I asked her earlier in the week what her favorite flower was) she loved the flower and had a great time including bringing home a balloon flower(which became a hat the next morning) I love Johnny and Sydney date nights.

Cash

Since turning 8 months old (video footage unable to load) Cas has gotten another tooth, is crawling (especially if he wants something) and has almost weaned himself.

8 Months Old

Cash turned 8 months old today! Time has flown by- I have actually started to get used to getting up in the night and even when he sleeps-lucky me I still get up! In his 8 short months on earth he has mastered the following: smiling (one dimple please), laughing, sitting up, rolling/scooching, pulling Sydney's hair if she gets too close, saying Da, this cute wave, and of course he has captured our hearts! Man, I love this little boy.

From Pink Eye to Puke

So again I have failed in my attempts to keep this blog updated and this time my excuse-sick kids- thank heaven for medical insurance because here is a run down on our month of January:

Sydney: off and on cold with a nasty cough-picks up pink eye from Cash/day care ends the month puking for two days and being diagnosed with the flu! (she did get the shot)

Cash: off and on cold with drainage-picks up pink eye from day care (oh the joys), get hives (allergic to the amoxicilin), double ear infection (as a result of the amoxicilin not working), cuts his first tooth

So no real pictures of my kids this month- while they are still cute to me to the rest of the world they are a petri dish of funk and gunk.

PS Johnny also threw out his back this month-diagnosis 2 herniated/bulging disc as a result I still have Christmas lights up on my house and Sydney (not that she has been well enough) has not gotten a chance to use her skis- here's hoping February ends better than its started.
